In-Home Support Services

With In-Home Support Services (IHSS), you participate in your own services in partnership with the ILRCCO staff. Through IHSS, you are empowered to select, train and manage attendants of your choice to best fit your unique needs with the support of ILRCCO. ILRCCO hires your attendants, provides back-up services, and has Registered Nurses on staff for supervision and support. ILRCCO also provides additional support, services and training to help you live independently and fully participate in your community. You may also contact the nearest Center for Independent Living (CIL) (link opens in a new window) for independent living services that meet your needs.

In-Home Support Services includes Personal Care, Health Maintenance Activities (HMA), and Homemaker Services.

  • Personal Care includes assistance with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, transfers, and mobility.

  • Health Maintenance Activities include assistance with skilled health-related activities that are typically provided by a certified or licensed attendant, such as a CNA, LPN or RN. In IHSS, the Nurse Practice Act has been waived so that members have the flexibility to hire and train staff without certifications or licensure.

  • Homemaker Services include assistance with routine household activities needed to maintain a healthy and safe living environment, such as housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry.

COVID-19 Guidance for Consumers with Personal Care Attendants & For Personal Care Attendants

Physical distancing is a critical practice for everyone during the COVID-19 response and whenever the virus is active in a community. However, many consumers rely on providers who come to our homes to support our health and other activities of daily living. Delivering those services, especially for people who may be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19, is necessary, even though it makes physical distancing difficult.

Please review Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment’s tip sheet for Personal Care Attendants, for people who use Personal Care Attendants, Colorado’s guidance for wearing masks, and CDC’s cleaning recommendations to make sure you and your Personal Care Attendant stay safe.
